Early Years

In today's world where every child is an individual ready to accept and willing to shoulder responsibilities, it becomes imperative that an environment suitable for such growth is provided. At NPS International, Chennai, every need of the child is respected and free reign is given to his expressions. A child can enact stories, fantasize, play games and at the same time enjoy reading and writing. The children are given freedom to explore - find answers - so they are better equipped to face whatever awaits them.

The Montessori and the Kindergarten programmes are offered at the early childhood level - ages 3 to 6.

Primary Year

At the primary level, it is our constant endeavour to facilitate and provide a productive learning process through activity-oriented lessons, stimulating hands-on work and extensive co-curricular activities. Learning goes beyond books through projects, multimedia presentations, group work and collaborative learning, circle time and worksheets specially designed to encourage lateral thinking.

Students are introduced to the study of computers, appreciating that computer literacy is essential in a modern world. Children also start using the Math Lab and Language Lab from Grade 1, which helps them to sharpen their analytical and speaking skills.

Club activities conducted every week provide a platform for the children to nurture other skills like needle work, cookery, puppet making, jewellery making, flower arrangement, origami etc. to make schooling in the primary years more vibrant and dynamic. There are other activities within the curriculum such as yoga, dance, music art/craft and physical education. All these activities taken in consonance with each other lay the foundation for an all round development during the years of happy schooling.

Establishing worthwhile work habits, persistence, independence, time management and an appreciation of the value of learning will begin early in the schooling process at NPS International Chennai.

Middle Year

Students enter the 'Middle School' in Grade VI.

Middle School students are ready to tackle deeper and more discreet subjects with an array of specialist teachers, including the challenge of additional languages.

These years are also a good time to learn the discipline and skills of preparing for tests and examinations. Students are taught to handle semester portions, to gradually get trained to appear for the Board Examinations in the senior classes.

The curriculum is broad based with emphasis on the core subjects. Students are engaged in experiential learning through a variety of resources in order to develop the appropriate knowledge and skill levels. Art, Music, Drama and Physical Education are additional curricular offerings for all students. Students have Physical Training classes to develop their agility and fitness.

In the Middle Years programme there are many enrichment activities including outbound trips and exchanges with other reputed schools.

Senior School

The primary focus of NPS is academic excellence. Yet, there is never a compromise in ensuring the development of creative, social and emotional facets of every student. To achieve this end, the senior school learning programme incorporates a variety of activities such as inter-house competitions, visits to orphanages and old age homes, guest lectures on various health and environmental issues, career counselling, overseas opportunities, etc. This gives them the much-needed exposure to the real world outside.
