Assembly: Grade 10 C, August 2023
Introduction: The class of 10C presented their show, “The Digital Age”, on August 9th, 2023. It aimed to communicate the advantages of the new up and coming advancements in the technological field, but to also warn the audience of the dangers that come along with it. The show was a joy to watch for each and every member of the audience, with each student displaying their individual talents on stage.
Plotline: The story follow three friends – Eshan, Vibhav and Pranuv – who repeatedly postpone a study session due to distractions. They get side-tracked by a global news YouTube video and then watch the latest episode "10C's Got Talent" hosted by Sairam Cowell. Determined to study, they receive a call from a scammer who uses AI to impersonate a classmate, hacking their laptop. After this incident, they meet the next day for coffee, subtly portraying unemployment due to advanced machines. During a student seminar in school, they learn about technological advancements, including voice modulation scams. This is shortly followed up by a quiz – hosted in the form of a game of Jeopardy. A vote of thanks was presented by S Sai Aaradhana, at the end.
Highlights: The assembly's standout moments encompass the inventive rendition of "10C's Got Talent," inspired by the famous "America's Got Talent," featuring V Sriram as Sairam Cowell. This concept adeptly showcased 10C's diverse talents, encompassing singing and dancing talents. The dancers received a Golden Monkey, and were praised by Sairam Cowell for their coordination and flawless movements. Another notable moment includes a scam call segment featuring Ragavkrishna G portraying a scammer who exploited AI voice modulation to pretend to be a classmate, Sandhya, coaxing the friends into downloading a hazardous link, leading to the laptop being hacked. Lastly, Mridula Kashiram and Varun Nachimuthu's quiz engaged the audience, offering chocolate prizes based on question difficulty, and instantly receiving great feedback from the audience.
Behind the Scenes: Grade 10C dedicated extensive effort to present an audience-pleasing show. Just two weeks before the event, they revamped their entire assembly, retaining the theme while altering all other aspects. Collaboratively, the class formulated an entertaining yet informative plotline for the show. Notably, Eshan Balamurugan, Varun Nachimuthu, Vibhav Subbaih, Hasini Manikumar, Ananya Ramesh, Lakshmi M Iyer, A. Meghna and Mridula Kashiram demonstrated exceptional teamwork, contributing ideas, and efficiently coordinating the flawless execution of the show.
Conclusion: The class of 10C aims to highlight the struggle to focus amidst technological distractions, the risks of scams, and the intersection of technology and education. The entire encounter proved to be insightful and edifying for every student in the class, giving them the opportunity to confront their stage fright, enhance their communication skills, and collaborate harmoniously as a cohesive unit.
