Ganamrutham Grades 1-2, 2026
The 10th of January was a memorable day for the students of the primary grades as they participated in Ganamrutham, the school’s annual music concert. This event marked the culmination of the music curriculum taught through the year, providing students an opportunity to showcase the songs they had learnt and practised with dedication.
The programme commenced with an invocation to Lord Ganesha, followed by a popular kriti rendered by the middle-years choir group. Accompanied by instruments, this soulful beginning set the perfect tone for the day.
This year’s repertoire transcended barriers of language and religion, reflecting the rich diversity of Indian and global music. A variety of musical genres were presented, with melodious and engaging songs in Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Bengali, and Kannada forming an enthralling medley. The diction and precise enunciation displayed by the students—especially in languages unfamiliar to them—was truly commendable.
Students of Grade 1 presented a delightful range of songs, from compositions highlighting the greatness of Tamil Nadu to challenging pieces with intricate swaras, including the tongue-twisting Varaleela Gana Lola.
The Grade 2 students performed songs themed around fun and friendship, nature, and patriotism. Rendered in mellifluous tunes, their performance kept the audience thoroughly engaged. They concluded on a high note with an interactive body-percussion segment set to a Mozart piece, during which parents were invited to join in, creating a joyful and inclusive experience.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Vanathi Suresh, applauded the diverse and powerful song selections and appreciated the collective participation of all students singing in unison. She further delighted the audience by performing two beautiful songs herself, leaving everyone mesmerised.
The performance by the Music Teacher, Ms. Madhumitha Shenoy, along with the Pakkavaadhyam, was equally remarkable and added great value to the programme.
As the programme concluded, many audience members were heard humming the tunes rendered by the students—a true testament to the success of Ganamrutham 2025–26.
