International Yoga Day 2025
Our school celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with a wonderful theme: "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." This idea really highlights how much our own well-being is connected to the health of our planet. When we take care of ourselves, we also start to take better care of the Earth – it's just like the old Indian saying, "Vasudhaiva Kutumbaka," meaning "the world is one family."
To mark this important day, all the students came dressed in their sports uniforms and gathered in the auditorium from 10:50 AM. The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Meghna, a Grade 12 student. After that, Adhvika Ramesh and Venkatanadhan shared their personal stories about why yoga is so important to them and how they've made it a part of their daily lives. It was really inspiring! Then, students from Grades 8 to 12 took part in a guided Chit Shakthi Meditation. This is all about using the power of your mind to create what you want in life. Many students later shared that they found the meditation incredibly relaxing – a perfect way to find some calm.
For our younger students, including primary, secondary, and middle years, special yoga sessions were held in batches in the Exam Hall, starting from 11:50 AM. Each session began with an "Invocation," where all the students chanted "Asatoma Sadgamaya" together. This beautiful chant means "Moving from Untruth to truth." Everyone then practiced different poses that help strengthen the spine, like Yoga Namaskar and Thoppukarnam. They also tried out Patangasana, Kurmasana, and Vajrasana. To top it off, everyone chanted the AUMKAR mantra in unison, and the day wrapped up with students meditating in Shambhavi Mudra.
It sounds like everyone at NPSI had a fantastic and calming International Yoga Day, truly embracing the idea that when we nurture ourselves, we nurture our world!
