Grade 12 Assembly
It’s often only in hindsight that we realise how certain moments, though chaotic and fleeting, become lifelong memories. And perhaps, a few years from now, the Grade 12 students of the Class of 2025 will look back on their final Class Assembly and smile, remembering the spirited discussions, late edits to scripts, missed cues, and yet the beautiful harmony that emerged from it all.
The assembly on June 18, 2025, marked a special milestone not just as the first Class Assembly of the academic year, but as the very first under a new format that welcomed parents into the audience, making the event all the more meaningful. Tasked with inaugurating this new structure, the senior-most class embraced the responsibility with grace, maturity, and plenty of heart.
The month’s theme was “Well-being,” and the students chose to explore one of its most relevant and relatable aspects of balance. The heart of the presentation was a skit contrasting two student archetypes — one intensely focused on academics, the other drifting through leisure — both eventually learning to respect and adopt each other’s strengths in pursuit of a more balanced life.
The show opened with a witty and thought-provoking address by a fictional head girl of “New Balance International School”, setting the tone for the scenes that followed. The transitions were seamless — weaving together dialogue, live music, song performances, dances, and even the news, all artfully stitched into the storyline. A symbolic tug-of-war served as a powerful metaphor for life’s many demands and the constant pull toward equilibrium.
In the spirit of participation and engagement, the students also hosted a quiz on well-being, which prompted reflection and laughter in equal measure, drawing in both peers and parents alike. The Thought for the Day wrapped things up meaningfully, highlighting how each element of the assembly was intentionally chosen to echo the central theme.
A grand finale dance featuring every student brought the assembly to a celebratory close. In the applause that followed, there was more than appreciation for performance there was the unspoken acknowledgment of how far these students had come.
With their creativity, coordination, and thoughtful scripting, the Grade 12 students didn’t just present an assembly, they created a memory. Their performance was not only a testament to their talent but also a meaningful conversation about the delicate balance we all strive for. It was an inspiring start to a year of assemblies that promise both heart and insight.
