Ganamrutham Grades 3-5, 2026
The 10th of January was a memorable day for the students of the primary grades as they participated in Ganamrutham, the school’s annual music concert. This event marked the culmination of the music classes conducted throughout the academic year, providing students an opportunity to take the stage and render the songs they had learnt and practised with dedication.
The programme began with an invocation to Lord Ganesha, followed by a popular kriti rendered by the middle-years choir group. The accompaniment of instruments set a serene and auspicious tone for the day.
This year’s concert was themed Navarasa – The Nine Emotions, and the repertoire beautifully transcended barriers of language and religion. A wide variety of musical genres were showcased, with melodies drawn from across the country. Songs in Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada formed an enthralling medley. The diction and precise enunciation displayed by the students—especially in languages unfamiliar to them—was truly commendable.
Students of Grade 3 presented songs depicting Sringara, Bheebatsaya, and Adbhutha rasas. Their performance concluded with a challenging finale featuring intricate swaras and sahithyas in a question-and-answer style harmony of the Bilahari Swarajathi, Rara Venu Gopal Bala.
The Grade 4 students performed compositions based on Raudra, Hasya, and Bhayanaka rasas. Rendered in mellifluous tunes, their performance kept the audience thoroughly engaged. They concluded on a high note by singing Sakthi Kodu as a tribute to Superstar Rajinikanth, marking his 50 years in the cinema industry.
Students of Grade 5 explored the rasas of Karuna, Veera, and Shantha. They also rendered kritis such as Giri Raja Sutha, featuring intricate swara patterns. The grand finale of their performance was the highly complex and challenging Kadanakuthuhalam Thillana composed by Dr. Balamuralikrishna. The piece demanded exceptional precision in swaras, jathis, and tala, which the students executed with remarkable confidence and professionalism, leaving the audience in awe.
The Chief Guest, Mr. R. P. Shravan, applauded the diverse and powerful song selections and appreciated the collective participation of all students singing in unison. He further delighted the audience by performing Sakthi Kodu along with the students, creating a truly memorable moment.
The performance by the Music Teacher, Ms. Madhumitha Shenoy, along with the Pakkavaadhyam, was equally remarkable and added great value to the programme.
As the programme concluded, many members of the audience were heard humming the tunes rendered by the students—an unmistakable testament to the success of Ganamrutham 2025–26.
