Plunge 2025-2026

PLUNGE 2025-26, the annual inter-school science fest of NPS International, Chennai (NPSIC), was held on July 11, 2025, on the school campus. True to its name, the fest offered students an opportunity to dive deep into creative problem-solving and scientific exploration. The event was entirely student-led, with participants from various schools competing in a series of innovative, hands-on challenges.

This year’s edition featured three flagship events: Science Adventure, Decode It, and the Math Escape Room. Following the opening ceremony in the auditorium, participants eagerly proceeded to their respective venues, ready to put their skills to the test.

In Science Adventure, students worked in teams to construct a mechanical hand called “The Gripster”. With limited instructions and a predefined set of materials, participants were challenged to design and assemble a functioning model. The event tested not only their scientific understanding and engineering skills but also their ability to collaborate, improvise, and innovate under time constraints.

Decode It turned the spotlight on logical thinking and code-breaking prowess. Teams raced against the clock to solve five encrypted puzzles, with each clue leading to the next, culminating in unlocking the elusive “Glitch Vault.” The event required analytical thinking, pattern recognition, and a dash of lateral thinking, all of which the teams displayed in abundance.

The final challenge was the Math Escape Room, a high-energy game that merged history, mathematics, and strategy. Teams had to ‘travel’ through five mathematical eras, solving unique puzzles in each room within a 50-minute limit. Points were awarded based on speed and accuracy, making this a true test of quick thinking and teamwork.

Each event saw enthusiastic participation and impressive performances, with three teams emerging as winners in every category. The overall champions were calculated based on a weighted scoring system across all events, and D.A.V. School, Pallikaranai took home the coveted rolling trophy.

Behind the scenes, students from Grades 9 and 10 played a crucial role in managing the fest from registration to logistics, guidance to hospitality, ensuring the day ran smoothly and professionally. Participants described the events as fun, challenging, and intellectually stimulating.

As with every edition, PLUNGE 2025-26 proved to be more than just a competition, it was a vibrant celebration of learning, curiosity, and collaboration. Kudos to all students, organizers, and participants who made this event a resounding success!
