Grade 3 - Orphanage visit
New Hope, New Life
December, celebrated as the Month of Joy of Giving, became truly meaningful for the Grade 3 students as they visited New Hope, New Life Orphanage to share love, laughter, and companionship during the festive season. The visit was thoughtfully planned to help children experience the joy of sharing and giving, while nurturing empathy, kindness, and a strong sense of community.
The students were warmly welcomed by cheerful smiles and open hearts. From the very beginning, happy expressions, excited conversations, and curious exchanges filled the space, creating an atmosphere of comfort and togetherness. The Grade 3 students eagerly engaged the children in creative and interactive activities, leading fun sessions such as vegetable printing and teaching basic origami. As they worked side by side—folding colourful paper and creating beautiful artwork—the students began to understand the value of empathy, kindness, patience, and acceptance, learning how meaningful it is to share time, attention, and joy. These shared moments helped the children realise that happiness grows when it is shared.
Adding to the joy, the students presented a lively entertainment segment where they sang cheerful songs and performed a group dance. Soon, the children joined in—singing along, clapping to the rhythm, and dancing together—bringing cheer, togetherness, and a beautiful sense of belonging to the celebration.
One of the most heartwarming highlights of the visit was the fireless cooking activity. Guided by their class teachers, the students prepared a simple Channa salad together. The joy on their faces as they worked as a team, carefully mixing the ingredients, and sharing the prepared food with the children taught them priceless lessons in humility, gratitude, generosity, and the true joy of giving without expectation. This simple act of sharing food became a powerful expression of care, compassion, and human connection.
The visit concluded with the presentation of thoughtfully prepared gift packs. Each student carried a gift pack to present to another child, and joy knew no bounds as the children excitedly explored their gifts—board games, stationery items, books to read, dresses, and notebooks. More than the gifts themselves, the children shared smiles, laughter, warmth, and genuine affection. As they returned, the Grade 3 students carried back immense gratitude—for the smiles they received, the lessons they learned, and the reminder that true happiness lies in giving, sharing, and being thankful for all that one has.
