Science Activity - Grades 1-8
With a view to inculcating a Scientific Temper a hands-on session was conducted for the students of grade 6 to 8. Two activities appropriate to the grade were designed. Procurement of materials was made easy by providing them the list well in advance. The sessions saw the students working their experiment as well as discussing the science behind it. Students performed the activities followed by a discussion on the scientific principle behind it. The range of activities included the spin wheel, jellyfish in a bottle and the catapult for the younger learners while the older children demystified concepts like the centre of gravity, aerodynamics and Bernoulli’s principle. Weekends saw them performing home activities, of course with the prior instructions sent home. To bring in further clarity. the science behind these activities were later discussed.
‘Think, Explore and Innovate’ was the key to these activities.
