Operation Codename: Tempest - A Grade 12 Production
Parents, grandparents, and students of Grades 9 to 11 had all gathered in the auditorium on the 23rd of June, 2023, to kick off the year with a morning of mystery and intrigue. As 2023 marks the tenth year since NPSI Chennai opened its halls to students for the first time, the day began with an address by Mrs. Meenakshi, a note by Shrabasti Chakraborty and Shreya Gopalakrishnan, and subsequently, a video detailing NPSIC’s touching journey throughout the years.
After that, it was on to the show!
A class assembly, titled ‘Operation Codename: Tempest’ was put up by the students of Grade 12, designed to capture the audience’s attention and get them scratching their heads. We followed Mr. Farhan, a master detective and his young student protege, Sudeep, as they spent the morning with us solving the Case of the Stolen Trophy at the setting of our story, International Republic School. Thrilling suspect interrogations took place, interspersed with interesting news readings and jokes that had the audience rolling. When the puzzle pieces slowly clicked together for our detectives, the trophy thief was finally caught and a valuable lesson was learnt: there is no shortcut to success and no substitute for hard work.
Our story finally came to a close with a confrontation in the form of a quiz, between our detectives and the true villain, Nearhan, Mr. Farhan’s archnemesis and the puppet master behind the theft of International Republic School’s trophy. The finale saw our detectives come out on top, foiling Nearhan’s nefarious plans and retrieving the stolen trophy!
Then, with the trophy successfully recovered, we settled down to witness a spectacular dance number, making the victory even sweeter.
To wrap things up, a vote of thanks was delivered by Abhimanyu Pant and followed by a short note by our Principal, Ms. Sudha Balan, congratulating the students of Grade 12 on a job well done and calling them onto stage one last time to take a curtain call.
