Guest Lecture – Dakar Motorbike Rally
As part of the school’s Career Counselling initiative, students of Grades 8 to 10 attended an engaging guest lecture on rallying, with a focus on the Dakar Motorbike Rally. The session was led by Mr Anand Hariharan, an experienced rally manager from Bangalore, who shared his journey and insights into motorsport.
He introduced the origins and evolution of the Dakar Rally—from Paris to Dakar, later South America, and now Saudi Arabia. He explained how deserts, dunes, rocky terrains, and mountains make it ideal for endurance racing, highlighting the importance of navigation, stamina, and mechanical reliability.
Video clips from past rallies brought the experience alive, showcasing challenging conditions and the determination of riders, while emphasising teamwork and precision.
Mr Hariharan also explored career opportunities in motorsport, including roles in engineering, medicine, media, logistics, and law, along with training pathways and entry points.
The session closed with an engaging Q&A, encouraging students to consider a wide range of unique and unconventional career paths.
