Dentist Expert Talk – Dr. Deepa and Team
To create awareness among young learners about the importance of oral health, an informative expert talk was organized for the students of Grades 2, 3, and 4 on 2nd September, 2025. The session was conducted by a dentist Ms. Deepa and a pediatrician Ms. Priyanka, who shared valuable insights in a highly engaging and age-appropriate manner.
The dentist began the talk by introducing the students to the structure of teeth. She explained the different types of teeth—incisors, canines, premolars, and molars—and their specific roles in chewing and speaking. The concept of cavities, commonly referred to as “black holes” in teeth, was explained in detail. Students understood how tooth decay occurs due to the accumulation of food particles and bacteria, and why timely care and proper cleaning are essential to prevent dental problems.
Moving further, the dentist discussed practical ways to maintain healthy teeth and gums. She emphasized the importance of regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups, while also cautioning against excessive consumption of sugary foods and drinks.
The pediatrician enriched the session with a live demonstration of the correct technique for brushing teeth. He also highlighted how eating a balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, and calcium, plays a vital role in keeping teeth strong and healthy. The interactive demonstration allowed students to observe and understand the right brushing method, which they could easily practice at home.
The talk concluded with an engaging skit that showcased the difference between healthy and unhealthy teeth. Through humour and role play, the skit reinforced the importance of good oral hygiene practices and left a lasting impression on the students.
Overall, the expert talk was highly informative, interactive, and impactful. It not only deepened the students’ knowledge about dental health but also inspired them to adopt healthy oral hygiene habits in their daily routine.
