Navaratri, 2021
Dussehra or Navaratri as its popularly known celebrates the three Goddess – Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathy. While the manner of celebration varies across the country, in Tamil Nadu, the arrangement and display of dolls as Kolu occupies the spotlight these nine days, At NPSI, the young ones of the Early Learning Department explored the various aspects of the Golu display and learnt their significance. The students of Grades 3 to 8 enjoyed fashioning paper dolls for their own golus. With easily available materials such as colour papers, acrylic paints and glue, paper dolls were crafted and uniquely decorated. Atta and dough were used to create a head for the doll and facial features painted over. Black paper to style hair and other colours to style dresses - the fun-filled doll-making activity brought to the fore the imagination and creativity of the children, thereby proving a fitting finale to the first term of the year.
