Onam Celebrations, 2017
The Onam celebration on 5th September 2017 at NPSI Perumbakkam, began with a speech on ‘Onam festival’ by our faculty Ms. Leena emphasizing the importance of the festival. She spoke about how this festival is been celebrated in Kerala which included traditional Sadhya, Pookalam and Thiruvadhira Kali. Students of Grade 7 transported the audience to the backwaters of Kerala with their melodious rendering of the song ‘Kuttanadan punjayile’. The entire staff was in Kerala saree/mundu creating an atmosphere of this festival.
Onam is incomplete without Pookalam. Our school foyer was vibrant with the fragrance and floral designs artistically created by our Grade 8 students. Their imagination and creativity captivated all those who viewed the designs. The Early learning classroom floors competed with these rich designs and each of the Kindergarten and Montessori classrooms had varied geometrical and representational floral designs adding colour and texture to the celebration.
