Pongal & Language Day Celebrations
Pongal, the Tamil harvest festival, is celebrated with pomp and splendour. With a distinctive style, the celebrations at NPSI were both informative and memorable. The young children of the Early Learning Department, dressed in traditional attire, witnessed the cooking of the sweet dish outdoors, in earthen pots against a festive backdrop. The chorus of “Pongalo Pongal excited the children even as they created kolam designs through vegetable printing.
Students were treated to a video expounding the traditions and manner of celebration of the harvest festival across the country. A special feature on the celebrations in the state of Tamil Nadu spotlighted the role of cattle in agriculture and their importance to the festivities.
The Incredible India series continued with a special session on the diverse languages of the country. The audio-visual treat provided a detailed insight into the languages and dialects of each state. A special feature on the various facets of the four languages – Tamil, Hindi, Sanskrit and French were both relatable and appreciated by the students.
