Assembly Grade 3D, 2024-2025
Students of Grade 3D hosted their assembly celebrating the lively harvest festival of Assam – Bihu. The event aimed at introducing the audience to the cultural richness of Assam and foster an appreciation for its long-standing traditions.
The assembly began with a warm welcome from the first group of MCs, who offered an introduction to the significance of Bihu. Their words set the tone for an exciting exploration of the festival’s history and meaning. A group of students, dressed in traditional Assamese attire, performed a vibrant Bihu dance. Their energetic movements and colourful costumes captured the audience's attention, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration.
A touching moment followed when the students sang Sankocher, a traditional Bengali song by Rabindranath Tagore. Their voices harmonized together beautifully. This was followed by a brief presentation highlighted the various aspects of Bihu, including its three main forms—Rongali Bihu, Kongali Bihu, and Bhogali Bihu. The audience was introduced to the customs associated with these celebrations, such as crop planting, community feasts, and traditional games that strengthen bonds within the community.
An engaging quiz about Bihu traditions sparked lively participation and served as a fun way to reinforce the lessons learned.
The assembly came to a close with a sincere vote of thanks, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of both the students and teachers who contributed to the success of the event. As the students departed, the spirit of Bihu filled the air, leaving them with smiles and a newfound appreciation for the festival.
Grade 3D’s Bihu assembly was a meaningful celebration of Assamese culture, offering students a chance to learn, perform, and connect with traditions that have shaped the community for generations.
